I've had trouble with my kyro since I got it (which i hate to say
because i love the card). Previously i wasn't able to install recent
drivers (reference drivers) but enjoyed gaming at around 20-27 fps.
System
Apollo Kyro 2 - 64Mb, agp
Windows 2000 (sp2)
Directx 8.1
Kyro reference driver version 2.1
Asus a7v133-c (via kt133a)
the problems i used to have was that upon startup, windows would boot
but at the end of the win2k "starting up" screen (the white one) the
pc would hang, and the monitor would be blank.
Now agp 2x is working sideband addressing enabled and the latest kyro
refence driver installed, the computer hangs now when a 3d application
exits, and if i can fix this the kyro will be in perfect working
order, i have tried updating directx to dx9.0b and it doesn't fix the
issue. Also when i install the VIA agp driver the original problem
occurs. That lead me to believe that the entire problem lied with VIA
agp and would explain the constant original problem when using WinXP.
With this problem i hit frame rates of over 53 in q3.
If anyone could think of anything I can try please help me.
I'm very persistant (had the card for aroung a year now!!!) and was
content with the low rates!
